WEDDINGS
Our historic stone church located on the corner of Union, County, and 8th Streets in beautiful, historic downtown New Bedford will provide the perfect location for your ceremony. For more than 135 years, First Unitarian has been a unique location for celebrating the sacred moments of life's passage, including weddings, in the lives of both members and non-members alike.
The Sanctuary's gothic design, graced by the two-story Tiffany mosaic and stained glass windows, provides an elegant setting where your personalized ceremony will take place.
Inclusive Weddings
As a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association, we welcome participation by all persons, without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, disability, affectional or sexual orientation, age, language, citizenship status, or national origin, and without requiring adherence to any particular interpretation of religion or to any particular religious belief or creed.
Facilities
We welcome you to tour our beautiful church and Parish House for your special day. Our amazing Sanctuary is the perfect setting for your wedding and up to 350 of your guests.
Our lovely Parish House is also available for more intimate ceremonies and receptions.
Music
The acoustics are wonderful whether you choose to have our Music Director, Randy Fayan, play our famed Flentrop organ or if you have your own musician or prerecorded music.
Minister
Our Minister, Rev. Karen LeBlanc, will be delighted to officiate at weddings for both members of the church and their children, as well as for those who are not members.
During our meetings and communications before the wedding, we come to know one another and learn the special and unique things you share, as well as various options for the content and music of the wedding celebration itself.
